I’m freakin’ getting married!

Welp! We are doing the impossible and getting married during a pandemic! My fiance, Brandon, and I were driving to a disc golf course when I asked him what his thoughts were on having a small backyard wedding this year in late summer/early fall just a month ago.

I was getting really frustrated with how COVID-19 has changed the events world drastically – especially since that is what my career is focused on, but also because it literally put a halt on our wedding planning. I give props to those couples that have had to either drastically change their wedding vision and/or had to postpone their weddings. For me, even if we did plan for a wedding in 2021, I didn’t feel comfortable enough to plan a wedding that we wouldn’t have to postpone or again drastically change because COVID-19 is just such an unknown variable. It could get better or God forbid it could get worse – you seriously just don’t know what the future holds.

Therefore, I brought the topic up casually of just doing a small backyard wedding which was definitely NOT the original plan because my family is HUGE – my dad is one of seven and my mom has so many cousins – it’d be at least 100 people for just my family. To be honest, sooner rather than later because it’s easier to know the near future versus a year from now and small backyard wedding because of the restrictions and less opportunities for the spread of COVID-19.

We rented a house between Napa and Fairfield that has a huge backyard area and vineyards – so great for keeping socially distant! It will just be immediate family and a few close friends, but we will be zooming everyone else for the ceremony and the beginning of the reception to include the first dance and toasts. It will be in late September so hoping for a great late summer so we can stay outside for both the ceremony and reception.

Oh and our wedding hashtag? #WhenLifeGivesYouLohmanns — Lohmann is Brandon’s last name and it’s just super fitting since making the best of what you have seems to be the 2020 motto. I’ll share more details about the wedding in future blog posts about how I did my best to keep our guests safe and whipped out a small wedding in a matter of 2 months! Until then, always thankful, grateful, and blessed for you to be a part of my journey!
