Post Wedding Recap

I’m writing this – not even a full week after the wedding, but wanted to honestly debrief with myself before I forget anything from the wedding, the weekend, or even how I’m feeling right now. It all feels like such a blur and I still can’t believe we tied the knot and it’s all over already!

Although prep was only two months long and traditional weddings usually take a year of planning, I feel like it was so much work and coordination on our whole village’s part. Literally everyone of our attendees helped with something – whether it was setting up tables and decorations, or helping with the A/V set up, or even just post-event cleaning. It truly took everyone to make this special day come to life and Brandon and I truly appreciate everyone’s help. I am having a little bit of post-event depression because it all went by so fast and I wish we were still there enjoying each other’s company, eating and drinking, etc.

Real talk though – the weekend started with lots of prep and logistics and getting to the house Friday afternoon with little to no food since we were running errands and getting this prepped. I definitely over indulged a bit and enjoyed myself a little too much Friday night that come wedding day – I was hung over. I was literally sick all day and finally stopped barfing around 8/9 PM. It was definitely not ideal, but part of the reason we were running almost an HOUR late…oops! Sorry virtual attendees! I also underestimated timing for pre-wedding photos and had to deal with a late cake delivery.

But, all in all, it came together great! My florist, Gary Aliperti Florals, arrived EARLY and did not leave until he got my seal of approval – talk about super sweet and great service! On top of that, the Chinese/Filipino restaurant I ordered from – 3 star – laughed when my friends came to pick up the food in one car and DELIVERED the food themselves free of charge and refused when both my friends and myself tried to give them more tip money. I will definitely be writing a stellar review on yelp. Now, the cake hiccup which I ordered from Tony’s Cakes. The cake was supposed to arrive at 3:30 PM and didn’t arrive until nearly 5 PM (when the ceremony was supposed to start). They put me on hold for 30 min and were never apologetic which is a huge turn off coming from a service background. It was still a beautiful cake and the cupcakes were a hit, but it was just the principal of the service industry – you apologize if you’re in the wrong and they were definitely in the wrong.

The A/V and photographers were AMAZING and I highly recommend both! Argus HD was the company we used for A/V and they helped not only with music and video recording, but with the Zoom to ensure the virtual attendees had a great view, could hear us, and were entertained. They even brought some lights so it was as if we were on a news station set. Kenny Wong and team were my photographers and I’ve known him since my professional dancing days and he was super professional and funny and made the wedding day less stressful and went with the flow.
When Brandon and I were driving back to reality, it was the first time we were alone since we’ve gotten married. It allowed us time to decompress a bit and debrief about the wedding and we both thoroughly enjoyed not only having our village there to celebrate both physically and virtually, but LOVED how our wedding truly represented us both – me planning, having Chinese AND Filipino food, having Brandon’s moms delicious rice krispie treats in addition to the traditional wedding cake and mini red velvet and carrot cupcakes, BOBA, AND late night taco bell. Literally everything we love and are known for – plus supported local and got 6 cases of wine from Kirigin Cellars. We are truly thankful, grateful, and blessed for our village for the help and support not only at our wedding, but continuing on in our future.
