Planning a COVID safe Wedding

Planning a wedding in 2 months is definitely not an easy feat, but to be honest, I am lucky to have been put in a similar predicament when I worked for the San Francisco 49ers. One of the years I worked there, I was tasked to put on and market a first of it’s kind conference in a matter of 2 months. So a wedding with less than 30 people was a piece of cake!

Now, here are a few steps of how I made it COVID preventionary.

  1. Provide hand sanitizers for each guest and/or household.

    I provided 8 fl oz. hand sanitizer for each household which I got from Grocery Outlet for $4 each. I designed my own sticker to put over the store label and used the tagline, “spread love, not germs” — super fitting and added our wedding hashtag.
  1. Provide masks for each guest.

    Old Navy has a great deal on 100% cotton masks! They have 10 packs for $25 so I just bought 3 packs. Luckily they have a great variety of colors and prints so it made finding our color scheme easy. My friend, Meghan, is super crafty from her sorority girl years so she is cricutting our hashtag onto the masks to keep in on brand — THANKS MEGHAN!

  2. Create COVID-19 house rules for the event.

    Brandon and I spent an hour one evening figuring out what we’d be asking of our guests in order to attend the festivities while keeping everyone safe. Some of the rules include getting a COVID-19 test prior to the wedding, washing your hands, etc. We included this as part of the physical invite, emails, and signage at the wedding.

  3. Red, Yellow, and Green wristbands for guests.

    I know this sounds super weird at first, but the wristbands for guests are for them to have an added layer of precaution and safety to signify their COVID/social distant comfort levels to other guests.
    Red = Please keep socially distant at all times.
    Yellow = Elbows only. Still being cautious.
    Green = Hi-Fives & Handshakes. Frequent Hand Washing.

  4. Spread out chairs and tables.

    Since it’s less than 30 people, we have the flexibility and space in the backyard to spread people out. We will be grouping chairs for the ceremony by household and setting up the next set of household chairs 6 ft. away. We have also asked our guests their comfort levels of sharing a table – either 6ft or 8 ft long – with another household. Luckily for us, a household is 2-3 people max so each household is able to sit on opposite ends of tables to keep distant.

Those are the major steps we have implemented to keep our guests safety top of mind during the celebration. We are excited to be with our loved ones and I’m at the point where it is finally starting to feel real. Until next time, always thankful, grateful, and blessed for you to be a part of my journey!
